These baby boots are probably one of the easiest and fastest crochet patterns to make for a baby shower gift. They are quick, use little yarn and mostly simple crochet stitches.
Terminology
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
hd2ctog – half double crochet two together decrease
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
BLO – back loop only
Notes: This crochet baby boots pattern uses some half double crochet two together decrease stiches. The half double crochet two together decrease (hdc2tog) is a basic decrease stitch that helps shape your project by removing stitches from your pattern. Here is how it is worked:
hd2ctog: Yarn over (YO) hook, insert hook into stitch (st), pull up a loop, 3 loops on hook. Yarn over (YO) hook, insert hook into next st, pull up a loop, 5 loops on hook. Yarn over (YO) hook, pull through all 5 loops on hook.
BLO: Work only in the back loop. The back loop is always the one that’s farther away from you.
This crochet baby boots pattern fits newborn to 12 month old babies. Use the following guide and adjust your hook size accordingly:
Newborn: hook size 3.5mm
0-3 months: hook size 4mm
3-6 months: hook size 4mm
6-12 months: hook size 4.5mm
