Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you one of my newest crochet pattern, the Winter Magic beanie. I wanted to make something for the winter season to wear and offer as gifts. Crochet beanie are a beautiful way to add a handmade touch to your winter garderobe. Crochet hats and beanies are a great gift to give to family and friends, too! The Winter Magic Beanie is a beginner-friendly pattern as it’s a two-row repeat pattern.

Try this new crochet hat pattern today! I love making crochet hats and beanies beacause crocheted hats make great gifts for friends and family. Make yourself some hats in all kinds of styles and colors.

For the Winter Magic Beanie, I used aran weight yarn. I used Burcum Batik from Akize, 100% Acrylic,100 grams, 230 yards (210 meters), however, you can use any yarn you’d like. I also used a size 5mm crochet hook. You will also need a pair of scissors and a measuring tape. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

My Winter Magic Crochet Beanie can be a great beginner crochet project. It doesn’t take much yarn or time, it would be the easiest to try.

Initially, this pattern is worked from the bottom-up to create the body of the hat. The top is decreased slightly and then cinched closed.

Don’t you love the trend of faux fur pom poms? They make a perfect finish to a stylish winter hat crochet pattern.

THIS CROCHET PATTERN for all sizes IS FREE TO VIEW ONLINE BELOW. YOU ALSO HAVE THE OPTION TO PURCHASE THE AD-FREE PDF DOWNLOAD version. THIS INCLUDES EXTRA HIGH QUALITY, STEP BY STEP, PHOTOGRAPHS THROUGHOUT AND IN-DEPTH TUTORIAL. Click here to get the pdf version: ETSY AND RAVERLY

Difficulty: Easy (Beginner level – knowledge of long chains and and basic stitches.)
Techniques used: chain stitches, slip stitch and single crochet stitches.

I designed this project to be easy and to be the kind of project you can sit and make in the evenings, while watching your favorite thing on TV.

The colors pattern of this project is given by the batik style of the yarn. The batik style of this yarn it’s perfect for lazy crafters like me who cannot bear sewing in ALL the ends. The color palet has a nice range of shades within a ball, designed to create beautiful color patterns, making each project unique.

This beanie is a great project for fairly new crocheters and those of you who love wearing a hat or beanie.

If a different weight brand of yarn or gauge isn’t followed, then the beanie will not turn out the same size as written. Make sure you follow the gauge for a perfect fit.

Notes for the beani crochet pattern

This simple crochet beanie pattern is easy since it is be made mostly with single crochet stitches.

The pattern starts by chaining a given number of stitches for the size beanie you want to make, then we connect the chains together to for a circle.

The best way to ensure a good fit is to measure the recipient’s head circumference with a tape measure. Measure exactly where the beanie will go around the head. If you are making a gift, and can’t measure the recipient’s head, I prepared a rough guide to head sizes.

Advertisements

You can also easily adjust the sizing by working more or less chain stitches or more or less rounds! To adjust the width, add more or less foundation chain stitches to ! The pattern require an even number of foundation chains. To adjust the length, repeat rounds 3 as many times as necessary to reach your desired lenght.

If a different weight brand of yarn or gauge isn’t followed, then the beanie will not turn out the same size as written.

Chain 1 from the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.

Number within ( ) show the total number of stitches you should have after that round.

Special Crochet Stitches

The beanie is made using a Spiked Moss Stitch pattern. This uses the following special stitches:

(SPsc) Spiked Single Crochet – A single crochet stitch made in the stitch 2 rounds below.

The Moss Stitch is made by working a single crochet followed by chain 1 and skipping 1 along the round and repeating the pattern next round working into the chain 1 spaces of the previous round.

Advertisements

For the Spiked Moss Stitch, instead of working a Single Crochet into the Chain 1 Space of the previous round, we will be making the stitch into the skipped stitch top of the round below.

When working your Spiked Single Crochet stiches (SPsc), insert your hook into the stitch below the ch1 sp, yarn over and draw up a loop and then elongate the loop to bring it level with the new round, as if you were to make normal single crochets along that round.

Advertisements

SPsc2tog) Spiked Single Crochet 2 Together – Single crochet 2 together using the indicated stitches of 2 rows below. Here is how you do it:

Insert the hook into the next stitch below the ch1 sp and pull up a loop (2 loops on the hook, skip the ch 1 and insert the stitch into the next stitch below the ch1 sp (3 loops on the hook), yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on the hook (see photos bellow).
